Tree Surveys

Safety and Condition Assessments

Our tree survey services provide clear, professional reports to help ensure that trees on your property remain safe and well managed.

Under the Occupiers’ Liability Acts (1957 & 1984), property owners and managers have a duty of care to take reasonable steps to prevent harm caused by their trees. We support you in meeting these responsibilities by identifying potential risks, offering practical recommendations, and suggesting tailored strategies to manage tree health and mitigate risk.

We provide surveys for

  • private homeowners

  • landlords

  • schools

  • housing associations

  • businesses

  • local authorities

Whether it’s ensuring public safety, protecting property, satisfying insurance requirements, or simply managing trees responsibly, our surveys provide peace of mind. Working closely with each client, we provide straightforward guidance to keep trees safe, healthy, and fully compliant.

Arboricultural Mortgage Reports

Comprehensive Documentation

We provide detailed mortgage reports and clear documentation on the condition of trees around properties, helping homebuyers meet the requirements of their lender.

In the UK, mortgage providers and insurers often request a tree report where trees are located close to a property, as these can pose structural integrity concerns from direct and indirect damage.

Our expertise in tree assessment ensures that reports are accurate, accessible, and in line with industry standards.

By highlighting any issues and offering practical recommendations, we give buyers, sellers, and lenders the confidence they need to move forward with the property transaction.

Planning and BS5837 Compliance

Consultation & Planning

Our BS5837 compliance services provide expert consultation and planning support to help balance tree preservation with development needs on construction sites. These services are essential for residential clients undertaking house extensions or alterations, developers, architects, planners, and contractors. Local planning authorities usually require evidence of compliance with BS5837 before granting consent for works near trees.

We prepare Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) to show planning officers how proposed developments may affect trees and to justify any removals or mitigation to protect retained trees.

Tree Protection Plans (TPPs) are produced to guide site managers and contractors, setting out fencing, exclusion zones, and safe working areas to prevent accidental damage to retained trees.

Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS) are  requested as a planning condition, providing step-by-step instructions on how construction will be carried out safely around retained trees.

By delivering clear, practical documentation at every stage, we ensure our clients can meet planning requirements, avoid costly delays, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainable tree management.
